I hope you will all take some time to look at these sites and read and learn what you can from them. Watching videos of elite pole vaulters can help you understand what we are striving for. Watching videos of yourself is invaluable. It is almost impossible to visualize exactly what you are doing when you jump. Everything happens too fast and there is too much going on to remember it all.The list below is not in any special order, but safety is an over-riding consideration. Always think about how to learn the new skill safely.
Recommended Pole Vaulting web sites elite vaulter videos This site is in German, but you will soon learn how to navigate it. It first displays links to videos sorted by date of the meet (Datum). To switch to sorting by name, click on Namen in the heading of the list. Pole Vault Power This is a site of, by and for vaulters. It has the best vaulting message boards where vaulters and excellent coaches discuss the vault. It is also the source of other vaulting information. A list of links to articles This list of links is on the Coaches Education web site. The last article in this list is so important it has its own entry on the next line. Management of Risk in Pole Vaulting The title of the article says it all. It is very important to me that we all jump safely. The pole vault area is not a place to be goofing around if it distracts you, the coach or another vaulter from concentrating on their jumps. USATF Pole Vault Manual This is one page from the USA Pole Vault Education Initiative web pages. Here you can download either pdf or doc versions of this manual, chapter by chapter. Be sure to check out the entire site. Pole Vault Education This is the home page of an organization that is trying to make more information available to vaulters, coaches and athletic directors to help our sport grow safely. NeoVault This is another site with videos. They seem to add videos of recent great vaults so you can check there when you hear or read of a new record. Unfortunately, they have also become a subscriber service for some of their videos.
